We aim to provide a holistic and therapeutic response to the multiple and intersecting (race, gender, class) issues affecting women who are experiencing life challenges. We work towards strengthening women’s resilience and independence and inspiring black womanhood. Women will be able to self-refer to the service directly and we also welcome referrals from our longstanding partner organisations.
Support and Advocacy
Family Support and Advocacy
Claudia Jones Organisation provides a safe space for women to seek practical family support and advocacy with a range of issues that affect their wellbeing including support with welfare, food poverty, school exclusions, health, domestic abuse, debt, housing and immigration status.
Gender Based Violence Work
Specialist and emotional support is provided to women who experience gender-based violence such as domestic violence or abuse or female genital mutilation. Practical support is also offered to address wider needs and to empower women in taking up their rights.
Thinking Space - therapeutic group support
A twice-monthly therapeutic peer support group is available on Thursday mornings in partnership with the Tavistock. A qualified therapist facilitates discussions among women who have experienced similar trauma and complex life challenges to work together to bring about change in their lives.
A drop in for all women to come together, listen, talk, plan activities or just have a refreshing cup of coffee/tea and a chat. The mornings are held on Thursday mornings alternating with the Thinking Space therapeutic group. The group provides opportunities to establish or strengthen social connections that help develop positive relationships in the community whilst offering the emotional support and access to information and knowledge.
As part of our holistic, practical and emotional support to the women and families we work with, we provide weekly counselling support where required, including play therapy for children.
With the support of YogaHome, we are able to offer complimentary body massages as we recognize the contribution complimentary therapies have on building the health and inner strength of women experiencing stressful and traumatic life challenges.
